Vestry Candidates 2007

Susan Mulledy-DeFrank (3 year term)

Susan Mulledy-DeFrank is a long time member of Christ Church. She is an usher, reader, chalice bearer, choir member, current vestry and Casa de los Amigos Board of Directors, Futures Committee member, EfM first year student, and passionate about sharing the hospitality and love of God.

Gail Vasquez Connolly
(3 year term)

Gail is shown here at the Pentecost Celebration.

I began attending Christ Church during the first months of 2004 in a search of a spiritual home during a time of a health crisis. I immediately felt embraced by the Christ Church family and the Episcopal doctrine, which is a bit different from the Baptist church I attended in my youth and early adulthood. Wanting to learn more about the church and desiring to become a full member, I attended a confirmation class and was received into the Episcopal Church in spring of 2005. I am currently attending year one of the EFM class and was honored to recently attend the Los Angeles diocesan convention as one of Christ Church’s delegates.

I have been married to my husband, Paul Connolly, for 15 years. I have three adult daughters and six grandchildren. My youngest daughter, Beth, was married in Christ Church in May and will give me my seventh grandchild this spring. Recently I retired after 25 years in municipal government as a City Clerk and I now serve as a consultant for two cities in areas related to City Clerk and elections duties.

I am honored to be considered for a position on the vestry of Christ Church where I hope to be a part of the exciting future of not only our Christ Church community. I am committed to learning and serving.

Janet Murry (1 year term)

Janet Murry has been a long time member of the Christ Church community. She has served on the vestry while Father Robert Edwards was rector; was the head of the very successful Silent Auction fund raiser; the president of the Search Committee that resulted in Father Bob's call to serve at Christ Church; head of various large celebrations including Father Bob's Institution celebration and Father Bill's ordination Sunday this year. She has also served as president of the Altar Guild and regularly serves as a reader and chalice bearer.

We are blessed to have Janet offer herself to serve on the vestry again.

Vic Cooper with his family.

Vic Cooper (3 year term)

Vic and his family started attending Christ Church in the summer of 1989. At the time Fr. Newman was the interim priest. Once Fr. Rob was chosen they knew this was the place to stay. Both of their children have been baptized in this church.

Vic was raised Roman Catholic. He grew up in an active Catholic family. He has been on vestry before, so he is familiar with how things work at the Church.

Vic is a patent attorney in a small firm. Biking is Vic’s passion and he is known for his love of the ride. He and his whole family, Ann, Stephanie, and Evan, serve as lay readers and ushers and Vic is a chalice bearer. Father Cornner recently commented on one of Vic’s many gifts: “Vic is a practicing theologian, as all of us are called to be. He really enjoys considering the questions of faith from the cosmic to the personal.”

Buck Baldwin is shown with Father Bob and his wife, Wanda, and Carolyn Henshel. Here is Buck's brief biographical sketch.

Buck Baldwin (3 year term)

Buck was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He graduated from Penn State University in Engineering and served in the Military Corps of Engineers following graduation.

After his military service he spent most of his career with Xerox, relocating to Palos Verdes in 1975. Later he joined CalComp as a Vice President of Manufacturing for about 8 years before retiring. He then enjoyed a short career in Real Estate to bridge the gap to full retirement.

Buck has attended several Episcopal Churches over the years and he feels he has found a Church Home at Christ Church. He especially likes the people and looks forward to serving in various roles in the Parish.

He gives thanks to God for his many blessings, especially for his daughter and grand-daughter living in Huntington Beach and for sending Wanda into his life after his first wife died in 1999. He and Wanda have been married for 5 years. She works for Continental Airlines and they take advantage of a lot of travel opportunities. They also play golf together and enjoy dancing. They are currently hosting the Los Companeros Dance Club and participate in the activities of the Palos Verdes Breakfast Club, of which Buck is the current Secretary.
